Résumé :
|
The present volume is an edition and translation into French of the Karnananda, a Sanskrit text attributed to Krsnadasa, a 16th-century poet and inhabitant of Mathura who was a member of the sect of Radhavallabha (devotees of Radha) founded by his father. A rich introduction traces the history of the Vaisnava faith and origins of the worship of Krsna and Radha and gives a glimpse of the life of the poet, his family and his literary work and an understanding of the principles of the devotion manifested by the Radhavallabha sect. It also presents the Karnananda and offers a detailed comparison between the latter and the works of Rupa Gosvamin, poet of the Caitanya sect of worshippers, who had a profound impact on Krsnadasa.
