Résumé : |
Although the tribes of India are a small minority with a low status and are considered politicallly and economically insignificant, it must be borne in mind that they inhabit the land-bound frontiers of the country and, therefore, cannot be ignored. Accordingly, it would be good policy to keep them satisfied and well-integrated with the Indian nationa and thus protect India's political security.
It is false reasoning to believe that becasue they are backward and a drag on the progress of the nation, they should be allowed to be oppressed and exploited and so disappear all the quicker from the confines of the country. Since they are a vital race, and will not disappear so easily. On the contrary, they have in creased by 22.4 percent in numbers in the last decade. This indicates that the problem of their uplift and national integration must be tackled with humanity and wisdom. |
