Ideally, the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region should be discovered through encounters with thousands of shapes, colours and views, all in the shadow of a common history. Virtually the entire region has been marked by the same invasions, artistic movements and periods of wealth and misfortune. And while history rolled on, individuals endeavoured to get the most out of the past for their own personal or collective pleasure. Today, the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region is also resolutely turned to the future both in terms of art and the economy.
