Résumé : |
[M]an Ray’s work is synonymous with surrealism: the artist who brought us Dadaism in the 20s with his rayographs, he created an artistic aesthetic which epitomised an era and stays innovative to the day. Renowned for his unique portrait style, Ray also “painted, drew, designed, made films and objects, wrote, invested his talents enthusiastically in typography, book and magazine design, and pursued a veritable career as experimental fashion photographer for Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue”. Spanning decades, Ray’s work has been collected together by curator Lisa Ortner-Kreil into a 150-piece retrospective.
Featuring the artists keyworks from all over the world, the exhibition will include paintings, photography, objects, works on paper, collages, assemblages and experimental film. An artist whose media is as diverse as his subjects – be them musical instruments or iconic fashion designers – Ray’s influence on art is ever growing and ever apparent, in fact laid groundwork for “how and what we see as ‘art’ today”. |
