A battle is now being waged between life in all its forms and death in all its forms. The entire history of the 19th and 20th centuries is essentially that of the struggle against the bourgeois spirit. Nietzsche, Baudelaire, Marx, Heidegger, Freud, Dada, surrealism, situationism, punk ? all said or screamed the same thing: the bourgeois spirit must be crushed! The entire history of the 19th and 20th centuries is also the history of their failure... The bourgeois spirit has triumphed. The subtile mixture of cowardice,cynicisim and deathly neuross remains; In fact, it has spread in its various avatars. Its ounterpart, the very with-it tense and over assertive anti-bourgeois appears increasingly grotesque and ineffectual. Bourgeois and anti-bourgeois are flip sides of the same coin: death. The book is a 'Jumping exercise" that transcends the infemal bourgeois-anti-bourgeois cycle. It is a complex attempt to define a living vibrant society and individual, which we can finally call non-bourgeois. About The Author: Yann Kerninon is a writer and philosopher. He is also an artist (performance,prestidigitation and cinema). He teaches at Essec and Centrale paris and has already published Cahier d'ubiquite-Volume 1 (Hermaphrodite, 2003) and Moyens d'acces au monde ? Manuel de survie pour les temps desertique (Bourd de I'eau, 2005) He is the co-director, with Sebastien Lecordier, of the film Bordure breakaway
