Sir Kuvempu was born on 29-12-1904. he passed away on 11-11-1994. He was the sun who illuminated the Kannada literary world for more or less a century. In his youth, he was a man of bright talent who was freely praised by great people like his gurus Prof T.T Venkannaiah, Prof. B.M. Srikaniah, and Porf. A.R. Krishnasastri. He rose to the peak of extraordinary popularity and respect during his lifetime and was an idol of worship for readers of all ages, tastes, and castes, from children to the elderly, and for non-readers.
I consider it one of the greatest blessings of my life to have been in the presence of such great me... It is difficult to put into words, the depth of our sorrow when Sri Kuvempu passed away. These are just a few of the hundreds of incidents that occured during our forty-four year relationship. They are the ones that have been brought to writing here. |
